PH FIGURE SKATERS AND CURLERS CHASE MEDALS IN THE ASIAN WINTER GAMES

Filipino figure skaters Isabella Gamez and Aleksandr Korovin aim to break new ground as they compete in the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.

The pair, who made history as Southeast Asia’s first duo to reach the final segment of the World Figure Skating Championships, will skate in the short program event, with Philippine Skating Union president Nikki Cheng optimistic about their medal chances.

Meanwhile, Team Philippines’ curling squads remain in strong contention after the men’s team rebounded with a 4-1 win over Kazakhstan, while the women’s team, led by Kathleen Dubberstein and Leilani Sumbillo An, stands at 2-1 despite a tough loss to Japan.

Freestyle skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe is also set to compete in the women’s freeski slopestyle event as the Philippines pushes for more podium finishes.
