PBA IMPOSES PENALTY ON CALVIN ABUEVA: ONE-GAME SUSPENSION, P20K FINE

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial announced on Wednesday that Calvin Abueva of the Magnolia Hotshots has been suspended for one game and fined P20,000 for raising his middle finger towards a fan during their game against Barangay Ginebra last Sunday.

Marcial warned Abueva of further consequences if he repeats such behavior.

The commissioner disclosed that Abueva was provoked by a fan’s verbal abuse. Marcial advised Abueva to address concerns to officials instead of reacting impulsively.

The league has informed Magnolia of the penalties.

This incident follows Abueva’s involvement in previous controversies, including mocking a coach’s disability and engaging in a verbal altercation with a player’s wife during last season’s Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
