Malacañang dismissed former President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is “veering towards dictatorship” as a “tale from a man prone to lying and inventing hoaxes.” Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin criticized Duterte’s statements made during a rally in Cebu, calling them “another budol (scam) from a one-man fake-news factory.” He asserted that the Marcos administration remains committed to upholding the Constitution and respecting human rights, unlike the previous administration. Duterte previously warned against Marcos seeking a term extension, opposing the government’s push for Charter change during a rally in April 2023.
