Malacañang on Wednesday denied claims that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has colon cancer, calling the rumors harmful to the government and economy.
The speculation arose after former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque asked whether the president used a colostomy bag.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro labeled Roque a “fake news peddler” and urged the public not to believe such claims.
The health discussion intensified after Marcos was diagnosed with diverticulitis, which caused him to miss some work commitments.
The Palace confirmed that the president is recovering from the illness and remains in good health.
