The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs aim to defend their UAAP Season 88 volleyball crown despite losing key players Bella Belen, Alyssa Solomon, Sheena Toring, and Erin Pangilinan.
Coach Regine Diego expressed confidence in her remaining core, including ace setter Lams Lamina and spiker Vange Alinsug, and highlighted the addition of rookie Sam Cantada from the juniors league.
NU showed strong form in preseason tournaments, sweeping the Shakey’s Super League Unity Cup and the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association, signaling they remain championship contenders.
La Salle, Santo Tomas, Adamson, Far Eastern University, and a revamped UP team are expected to challenge NU for the title.
The UAAP also introduced a “green card” system this season to reward honesty and sportsmanship, with the team earning the most green cards receiving a special award.
