The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) requested a five-day extension from the Supreme Court to file a comment on the petition questioning the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA). Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra clarified that the extension is not meant to delay proceedings. The petition, filed by Victor Rodriguez, Isidro Ungab, and five others, claims the 2025 GAA is unconstitutional for failing to provide mandatory funding for PhilHealth, increasing appropriations beyond the President’s recommendations, and prioritizing infrastructure over education. The Supreme Court has set a preliminary conference on February 28 in Manila, with oral arguments scheduled for April 1 in Baguio City.
