The Office of the Ombudsman is preparing to file plunder complaints against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and former Senate President Francis Escudero over alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said the cases, linked to the 2024 and 2025 national budgets, may be filed within May and involve claims of conspiracy.
Romualdez and Escudero have denied any involvement in the alleged anomalies.
The investigation may also include additional officials from the Department of Budget and Management and other agencies.
Authorities said the probe could expand further as evidence is reviewed, with earlier inquiries already covering multiple lawmakers and officials.
