A recent survey by OCTA Research reveals that Filipinos are more concerned about inflation than constitutional change (Cha-cha).
In the fourth quarter of 2023, 73% of adult Filipinos identified controlling the increase in prices of basic goods and services as the most urgent national concern.
This marked a significant increase from 52% in July 2023 when inflation was at 4.7%. The concern about inflation was most pronounced in Mindanao, where 82% of respondents considered it the top issue.
Access to affordable food ranked as the second most urgent concern, with 45% of respondents, followed by creating more jobs at 36%.
In contrast, changing the 1987 Constitution was identified by only 1% of respondents as a major concern during the survey conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult Filipinos from December 10 to 14, 2023, with a ±3% margin of error at the national level.
