Nine Visayan governors, led by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, proposed the formation of the “One Visayas Bloc” during Cebu’s 455th founding anniversary celebrations.
The bloc aims to unify the 16 Visayan provinces to address regional issues such as infrastructure, economic development, and disaster preparedness.
Garcia, who will lead the bloc unanimously, confirmed she will seek a third term as Cebu governor rather than a higher office in the 2025 elections.
The governors also signed a manifesto supporting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s “Bagong Pilipinas” initiative, which includes the introduction of mobile clinics for enhanced healthcare.
Garcia emphasized that the One Visayas Bloc represents a historic step toward regional solidarity and stronger national representation.
