President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Caticlan Passenger Terminal Building in Aklan, signaling a major infrastructure push to improve regional connectivity and support tourism.
Joined by San Miguel Corp. chairman Ramon Ang, Marcos emphasized the terminal’s potential to decongest Manila airports and fuel local economic growth.
The two-story terminal, expected to handle 7 million passengers annually, will feature modern amenities including boarding bridges and 24/7 operations.
The project is part of SMC’s continued airport development under Trans Aire and is slated for completion in 2027.
Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores highlighted the province’s commitment to building world-class, future-ready infrastructure.
