NEW APPOINTMENT TO THE MONETARY BOARD BY MARCOS FROM BDO

Walter Wassmer has been appointed as a new member of the Monetary Board, the highest policy-making body of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Wassmer, formerly with BDO Unibank Inc., brings decades of experience in banking, having held senior roles in institutions like Far East Bank and Trust Co. and Union Bank of the Philippines.

His appointment follows the resignation of two MB members implicated in a ghost employee scandal, with Wassmer set to complete their terms by July 2026.

President Marcos has yet to announce the final MB member, as questions linger about BSP officials connected to the controversy.
