Authorities across Metro Manila have implemented heightened security measures following the deadly explosion at Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has increased police visibility in schools, churches, transportation terminals, and other places of convergence. Additional checkpoints have also been established around Metro Manila.
At the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), enhanced security protocols are in place, including increased deployment of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, K9 units, and Special Operations Unit personnel. The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has also urged passengers to remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings.
In response to the MSU attack, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has placed all seaports on red alert. PPA general manager Jay Santiago has ordered increased deployment of roving bomb-sniffing dogs and heightened security protocols in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard.
