NBI RETIREES URGE MARCOS TO APPOINT INSIDER AS NEXT DIRECTOR

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Retirees and Ex-Employees Association has urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to appoint the next NBI director from within the bureau’s current leadership.

The appeal followed the resignation of Director Jaime Santiago and the appointment of DOJ Undersecretary Jesse Andres as acting director.

Association president Ricardo Diaz said selecting a career official would ensure stability and uphold Republic Act 10867, which aims to professionalize the bureau.

The group endorsed Deputy Directors Jose Justo Yap and Antonio Pagatpat, both lawyers with 35 years of unbroken service.

Diaz stressed that either of them has the integrity and expertise to lead the NBI effectively.
