Tech giant Microsoft is planning on a mission to equip Filipinos with skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity to address emerging risks.
As part of a high-level US trade mission in the Philippines, Microsoft Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, Mary Snapp, revealed plans to train 100,000 learners in AI and cybersecurity while also enhancing broadband connectivity.
This initiative is in line with Microsoft’s broader commitment to upskill 2 million individuals across the Indo-Pacific region.
Snapp emphasized the importance of cyber resilience, aiming to protect democracies, journalists, and government officials from email hacks perpetrated by foreign state actors.
Microsoft’s Copilot AI platform, recently launched, integrates with popular applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
The platform allows users to leverage AI to generate documents, images, designs, and insights. Snapp highlighted the availability of numerous AI and cybersecurity courses on LinkedIn to aid learners in gaining proficiency in these domains.
