The monthlong training camp for Filipino athletes competing in the Paris Olympics began on Sunday in Metz, France.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and Chef de Mission Jonvic Remulla reported high morale among the team at the La Moselle facility.
This is the first time the POC is conducting such a camp a month before the Games, which start on July 26.
The first batch of athletes, including weightlifters Vanessa Sarno, John Ceniza, and Elreen Ando, and boxers Aira Villegas, Hergie Bacyadan, Carlo Paalam, and Nesthy Petecio, have already arrived.
More athletes are expected soon, with the delegation anticipated to exceed 20 athletes as additional qualifiers are announced.
