The film Sunshine, starring Maris Racal, has been selected for the Generation 14plus competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, this marks her first entry into one of the “Big 3” film festivals.
Sunshine had its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and was also screened at the Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier this month.
The film, which tells the story of a young rhythmic gymnast navigating an unexpected pregnancy, has also been nominated for Best Youth Film at the 2024 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
The European premiere in Berlin solidifies Sunshine as a standout Filipino film in the global cinema scene.
