Marikina Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro denounced the preventive suspension issued against him by the Office of the Ombudsman, calling it a politically motivated attempt to derail his candidacy for the May 2025 midterm elections.
The suspension, which also affected 19 other city officials, stems from allegations of misallocation of P130 million in PhilHealth funds.
Teodoro claimed the timing was suspicious, coming just days before the campaign period, and dismissed the charges as part of a broader political harassment campaign.
Despite the suspension, Teodoro vowed to continue his reelection bid, asserting his innocence and promising to fight for transparency and good governance.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and assured them that he would face the allegations head-on.
