Mayor Honey Lacuna has implemented a “no apprehension during rush hours” policy in Manila to avoid delays for motorists and commuters.
The policy, effective during rush hours from 6-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m., prohibits traffic enforcement for minor violations but does not allow for disregard of major offenses.
New Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) chief Narciso Diokno III emphasized that the policy aims to reduce congestion and facilitate smoother traffic flow.
He noted that enforcing minor violations during these peak times would exacerbate traffic issues.
Diokno assured that the MTPB will focus on traffic direction and control during rush hours, with strict consequences for any enforcers who do not adhere to the new directive.
