MAJORITY OF PHILIPPINE COMPANIES UNPREPARED FOR AI, BUT RECOGNIZE ITS IMPORTANCE

A recent study by Cisco reveals that only 17% of Philippine companies are currently prepared to implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. However, nearly all of them recognize the urgency to adopt AI soon.

The survey found that 61% believe they have only a year to develop an AI strategy before facing losses due to automation lag. Almost half of the respondents expressed concerns about lacking the necessary infrastructure for AI adoption, including the need for additional investment in graphics processing units.

Despite these challenges, 98% of Philippine companies express a desire to use AI to improve workplace efficiency. Cisco emphasizes that AI can enhance economic potential by providing advanced computing capabilities.

Globally, 95% of organizations are aware of the increased infrastructure requirements for AI, with 87% believing it will play a crucial role in their operations, though concerns about data privacy and security persist.

The study, based on insights from over 8,000 private sector leaders worldwide, assessed AI readiness across six pillars: strategy, infrastructure, data, talent, governance, and culture. Cisco underscores the importance of companies evaluating needs across these pillars for successful AI deployment.

The study also notes a global trend in the rising use of generative AI, capable of creating images, texts, and videos based on available data.
