Six local technology startups in Quezon City have each received P1 million grants as part of the city government’s initiative to support innovative solutions for social issues.
Selected from a pool of 58 applicants, these six finalists are now part of the third cohort of Startup QC, which aims to strengthen the local startup ecosystem through collaboration with industry experts, academia, and local government.
The startups focus on various sectors, including education, disaster risk reduction, sustainability, and finance, with projects such as a portable water filtration system and a platform to enhance youth literacy.
Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed pride in the startups’ progress and emphasized the city’s commitment to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial environment.
The local government is also considering creating a startup incentives program to encourage more residents to pursue entrepreneurship and technological innovation.
