The provincial government of Cebu marked its 445th founding anniversary on Monday with a celebration attended by high-ranking officials, including First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and nine Visayan governors.
The event featured a tree-planting ceremony led by Araneta-Marcos and Cebu officials, symbolizing unity and collaboration between local and national governments.
During the anniversary program, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia emphasized the importance of unity, particularly reflecting on Cebu’s significant support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the 2022 elections.
The governors also signed a manifesto supporting the president’s “Bagong Pilipinas” branding, and funding allocations were announced for local government units.
Additionally, the Department of Health turned over a mobile clinic to the Visayan provinces as part of the anniversary activities.
