Leandro Legarda Leviste pledged to distribute one million sacks of rice to Batangas families who have not received government aid, citing alleged discrimination in the distribution of assistance.
Speaking at the Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel, Leviste said the initiative would be funded personally and would not cost the government anything.
He claimed some barangays in his district were excluded from recent rice distributions and financial aid despite having prepared claim stubs and checks.
Leviste called on local officials to stop politicizing aid distribution and ensure assistance reaches all families regardless of political affiliation.
The lawmaker said the rice distribution has already started, with thousands of sacks turned over to parishes, barangay workers, and local communities in Batangas.
