Senator Loren Legarda urged Filipinos to embody heroism through discipline, sacrifice, and selflessness during the Capas Commemoration at the Capas National Shrine in Tarlac.
She joined veterans, families, and officials in honoring Filipino and American soldiers who perished during the Bataan Death March, as part of the Day of Valor observance.
Legarda said the country’s present peace and freedom are rooted in the sacrifices of war heroes, who endured extreme suffering and death for the nation.
She emphasized that remembrance should be a duty, citing efforts to institutionalize the Philippine Veterans’ Month Act to strengthen support for veterans.
Legarda also highlighted that the legacy of heroism continues to inspire national unity and love of country.
