Sen. Loren Legarda has voiced full support for the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Public Expenditures to ensure national funds are spent with transparency and accountability.
She emphasized that the committee, established under the 2026 General Appropriations Act, should be fully activated to prevent delays, waste, and misuse of public funds.
Legarda warned that underspending and poorly implemented projects directly harm citizens, causing unfinished roads, overcrowded hospitals, and inadequate disaster protection.
She stressed that continuous oversight would help channel funds to agencies with strong implementation records and ensure that key investments in health, education, livelihoods, and disaster resilience are realized.
Legarda also urged the committee to prioritize sectors where delays most affect ordinary Filipinos, reinforcing public trust in government spending.
