LEADERSHIP CRITICISM ARISES AFTER SAN JUAN’S CHAOTIC ‘BASAAN’ EVENT

Former San Juan City Mayor and now Senator JV Ejercito criticized the recent “Basaan” or “Wattah Wattah” Festival for its disorder, attributing the chaos to a failure of leadership.

Ejercito lamented that the festival, once a well-organized event since its inception in 2003, has deteriorated.

He recalled implementing rules to maintain order, including prohibiting splashing water on people heading to work.

The senator expressed disappointment that the festival has reverted to its previous chaotic state, blaming the local government for inadequate preparation and enforcement.

The San Juan City government has apologized for the inconvenience caused and urged affected individuals to file formal complaints.
