LAWMAKER CALLS ON DOLE TO ENHANCE LABOR INSPECTION SYSTEM

House Labor and Employment Committee Chair Fidel Nograles called on the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to enhance the labor inspection system to ensure safer workplaces and better protection of workers’ rights.

The push follows the recent ratification of the International Labor Organization’s Labor Inspection Convention No. 81, which sets global standards for labor inspection.

Nograles stressed the need for skilled inspectors, better equipment, and continuous training to improve compliance strategies and provide guidance to businesses.

He highlighted that effective labor inspections not only enforce laws but also help organizations address workplace issues proactively.

Nograles emphasized the importance of fully implementing the convention to improve labor conditions for Filipino workers.
