LAUREN HOFFMAN SMASHES PHILIPPINE HURDLES RECORD AT FLORIDA COMPETITION!

Filipino-American hurdler Lauren Hoffman has set a new national record in the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida.

Clocking in at 56.39 seconds, the 24-year-old athlete clinched the gold medal, potentially surpassing the previous Philippine record of 56.44 set by Robyn Brown two years ago.

Dominique Mustin of the United States secured second place with 57.02 seconds, followed by Zoe Pollock of Great Britain in third with 57.54 seconds.

Expressing her elation on social media, Hoffman expressed her long-standing desire for this achievement.

As a Paris Olympics hopeful, Hoffman aims for direct qualification in the 400m and 400m hurdles events or through the universality slot.

She joins a roster of Filipino athletes eyeing participation in the Paris Olympics, including pole-vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Aleah Finnegan, and boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas.
