Residents of Las Piñas City have voted to approve the resetting of boundaries for 20 barangays in the city, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The ordinance to delineate these boundaries, aligning them with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ approved cadastral survey from March 2015, received support from 41,493 residents based on certificates of canvass released yesterday.
Despite a low voter turnout of 19.88%, with 61,237 out of 308,059 registered voters participating, the majority ratified Ordinance 1941-23.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia noted the typical low interest in plebiscites but affirmed the ordinance’s approval based on the majority vote cast.
