HOUSE SUMMONS KEY WITNESS IN SARA DUTERTE IMPEACHMENT CASE

The House justice committee has subpoenaed detained witness Ramil Madriaga to testify under oath on April 14 in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Madriaga is being required to present his affidavit and evidence, where he alleges involvement in the delivery of confidential funds linked to the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education.

In his sworn statement, he claimed he transported large sums of money under instructions tied to Duterte’s office, accusations she has strongly denied and countered with a perjury complaint.

The House committee, acting on a motion by Rep. Leila de Lima, said his testimony is crucial to the ongoing investigation into alleged misuse of confidential funds.

Madriaga, currently detained on a separate kidnapping-for-ransom case, has been placed under House protective custody due to security concerns.

The impeachment inquiry continues as lawmakers assess whether there is probable cause to elevate the case to the Senate for trial.
