Carlos Yulo dazzled at the 2024 Olympics on Sunday, securing a second gold medal in the men’s vault event, adding to his earlier victory in the floor exercise.
His performance at the Bercy Arena, marked by precise vaults and clean landings, earned him a total of 15.166 points.
Yulo’s achievement makes him only the second Filipino to win multiple golds in a single Olympics, following weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz’s gold in Tokyo 2021.
With this landmark performance, Yulo has set a new benchmark for future Filipino Olympians and helped the Philippines surpass its previous medal record.
Yulo’s remarkable feats have propelled the Philippines to a joint 19th place in the medal standings, underscoring a significant rise in the nation’s Olympic success.
