Senator Risa Hontiveros has raised concerns that Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) may have facilitated the escape of alleged scam mastermind Michael Roque from the country.
Hontiveros called for stricter oversight of POGOs, which she said could be enabling criminal activities, including human trafficking and illegal financial schemes.
She emphasized the need to crack down on systems that allow fugitives to evade justice, urging the government to investigate Roque’s departure.
The senator reiterated her stance that POGOs pose serious risks to national security and public safety.
Authorities are now being urged to reassess the operations of POGOs to prevent similar incidents in the future.
