On Thursday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for a “kinder and gentler society” during the National Remembrance of the Heroic Sacrifice of SAF44 event in Silang, Cavite.
Joined by Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos and Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr, Marcos urged Filipinos to honor the 44 Special Action Force commandos by working towards realizing their dreams for their families, children, comrades, and the people.
The event included offering flowers to the monument of the fallen commandos.
The SAF44 lost their lives in a deadly shootout during a mission to capture or kill a Malaysian terrorist in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in January 2015.
Marcos emphasized the need to remember the heroism of these brave men and to build a society where their loved ones can live in peace and prosperity.
