A new exhibit titled INTERCONNECT3D: Lalang Pandan opens on July 1 at the DOST-FPRDI Forest Products Innovation and Training Center in Los Baños, showcasing modern designs using the traditional Filipino craft of pandan weaving.
The exhibit highlights pandan as a versatile material for creating high-value, globally competitive products that merge indigenous weaving techniques with contemporary aesthetics.
Featured items include woven mats, bags, stools, chandeliers, and pendant lights, all developed through DOST-FPRDI’s research to support local pandan weaving communities in Laguna.
DOST Secretary Renato Solidum emphasized that the project preserves heritage while creating sustainable economic opportunities and empowering artisans.
The exhibit symbolizes the collaboration between scientists, designers, and artisans to innovate and elevate Filipino craftsmanship for the future.
