Former DPWH assistant engineer Brice Ericson Hernandez surrendered a ₱30 million Lamborghini Urus to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on September 24 as part of his cooperation in the probe into irregularities in Bulacan flood control projects.
ICI adviser Mayor Benjamin Magalong said Hernandez’s gesture shows his commitment to transparency and hopes it encourages others to come forward.
Hernandez, along with dismissed DPWH officials Henry Alcantara and Jaypee Mendoza, testified about the substandard projects, and Hernandez also turned over a computer containing evidence to the Department of Justice.
During a Senate hearing, Hernandez admitted to delivering ₱1 billion in cash linked to the projects to a party-list representative’s staff.
The National Bureau of Investigation has since recommended charges against several officials, while Hernandez is being considered for the Witness Protection Program.
