GOVERNMENT AGENCIES UNITE TO FIGHT FAKE PASSPORT APPLICATIONS.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with various government agencies to enhance collaboration in combating fraudulent passport applications.

The agreement, known as Operation Sentinel, involves the DFA, Philippine Statistics Authority, Bureau of Immigration, and other key agencies, aiming to improve data sharing, system interoperability, and coordinated responses.

DFA Undersecretary Jesus Domingo highlighted the MOU as a strong example of a “whole-of-government” approach to tackling passport fraud.

The initiative comes after the DFA recently canceled the passport of former Bamban mayor Alice Guo, which was acquired fraudulently.

The agreement aims to prevent similar cases and strengthen passport issuance integrity.
