Naturalized players Justin Brownlee and Scottie Thompson each added 10 points to the effort.
The win marked a strong start for Gilas, who overcame a tough challenge from Qatar in a dramatic finish.
They will face Lebanon next on Saturday at 6 p.m. local time.
