GATCHALIAN URGES CONTINUED ACTION AGAINST POGO OFFSHOOTS AFTER DEADLINE

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has called for continued action against Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) following the Dec. 31, 2024, deadline for their cessation.

He urged vigilance in identifying and removing POGO offshoots that have transformed into legitimate-seeming businesses like BPOs and resorts.

Gatchalian also warned of the risks posed by former POGO workers, some of whom are illegally staying in the country and may be involved in criminal activities.

He commended the Office of the Solicitor General for its efforts to cancel fraudulent birth certificates but urged quicker action.

The senator stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance to ensure safety and security across the Philippines.
