First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos met with sugar industry stakeholders in Negros Occidental to hear concerns over widespread crop damage caused by red-striped soft scale insects (RSSI).
She assured stakeholders that President Marcos will visit the province soon to address the 1issue and discuss possible solutions.
Negros Occidental Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez said the goal is to create a unified action plan involving government agencies, farmers and other sectors.
Officials expect developments and commitments on the plan as early as next week.
Araneta-Marcos also led the distribution of 10-kilogram rice assistance packs to 2,000 senior citizens in Bacolod.
