The Philippine women’s national football team is gearing up to face South Korea in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 after a 0-1 loss to Australia, with coach Mark Torcaso expressing confidence in the Filipinas’ determination and fighting spirit.

South Korea dominated their opener against Iran with a 3-0 victory, showcasing experience and technical skill, including goals from Choe Yu-ri, Kim Hye-ri, and Ko Yoo-jin.

Torcaso highlighted the team’s resilience, recalling their impressive run in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and emphasized support from the Philippine Football Federation and Sports Commission.

The Filipinas will need a strong performance on Thursday to bounce back and stay competitive in their group.

South Korea’s high possession rate and disciplined defense make them a formidable opponent, setting the stage for a challenging but pivotal match.
