Former President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested at NAIA upon his return from Hong Kong and was flown to The Hague under an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant for crimes against humanity.
Philippine authorities, in coordination with Interpol, executed the arrest despite Duterte’s protests and resistance from his legal team.
His family and allies, including Sen. Bong Go, attempted to intervene, citing health concerns, but security forces proceeded with the transfer.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) emphasized adherence to due process, while the government distanced itself from ICC’s legal actions.
The Armed Forces assured public order as Duterte’s case unfolded in international courts.
