Consumers can expect prices of necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) to remain stable until the end of the year, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured on Tuesday.
The move aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for DTI to intensify monitoring and coordination with manufacturers to prevent holiday price hikes.
Trade Secretary Christina Roque confirmed that recent price checks in Taguig City showed all 68 monitored BNPCs were ₱0.05 to ₱10.05 lower than their suggested retail prices.
Roque also appealed to food suppliers to refrain from increasing Noche Buena item prices to protect consumers amid inflation.
DTI urged the public to report any overpricing or profiteering through its Consumer Care Hotline and email channels.
