President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed to expand government support for local manufacturers, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to strengthen the Philippine value chain.
During his inspection of the Nuvali Steel Processing Center in Laguna, Marcos highlighted the company’s use of robotics with assistance from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
He said stronger government-private sector coordination would help businesses adopt advanced technologies and compete globally.
Marcos also stressed the need to develop local sources for parts and components to reduce import dependence, create jobs, and keep more value in the country.
He cited programs such as DOST’s SETUP and other government initiatives that help MSMEs adopt smart manufacturing technologies.
