DPWH LEADER CALLS ON WOMEN TO STEP UP IN ENGINEERING AND GOVERNMENT SECTORS

DPWH Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral urged women to assert their place in engineering and leadership roles during her keynote address at the Asia Women’s Forum on March 21.

In her speech, titled “Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies,” Cabral called for an end to gender stereotypes in both the boardroom and on construction sites.

She shared her journey as one of only two women to receive the prestigious Professional Regulation Commission’s Most Outstanding Civil Engineer Award and reflected on the challenges of navigating a male-dominated industry.

Cabral emphasized that competence is determined by skill and determination, not gender, and encouraged women to step into leadership roles with confidence.

She also highlighted the importance of mentoring and creating inclusive environments for future generations of female engineers.
