Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered an investigation into the missing and recovery of a passenger’s jewelry box at NAIA Terminal 3.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) was tasked with investigating the incident and preventing similar occurrences in the future.
The jewelry box was lost at Gate 104 and was passed among over 10 airline and security personnel, none of whom reported it to the lost and found.
NAIA’s Airport Police Department and Screening and Surveillance Division successfully recovered all the items after reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing the involved parties.
The passenger, Kimberly Nakamura, praised the swift recovery but chose not to press charges, while MIAA urged disciplinary action against those responsible.
