DOE, DOST INK DEAL TO DEVELOP AFFORDABLE, EFFICIENT RENEWABLE ENERGY

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced on Wednesday the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to collaborate on research and development for renewable energy (RE).

Utilizing the Renewable Energy Trust Fund from Republic Act No. 9513, the partnership aims to explore various renewable technologies including solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy.

The agreement involves the DOE, DOST, and the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development.

Through this collaboration, the parties seek to commercialize RE technologies and promote a green economy.

DOE Secretary Raphael Lotilla expressed the intention to leverage collective strengths to drive innovation and address challenges in adopting RE technologies.

The research outcomes are anticipated to inform legislative measures concerning renewable energy.
