Local governments and police have been authorized to inspect commercial and residential buildings to enforce the total ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said LGUs must submit “No POGO” certificates by the end of the month and are empowered to check permits, taxes, and compliance with the ban under Executive Order No. 74, which includes SEZAs like CEZA and PEZA zones.
Remulla emphasized zero tolerance for LGUs failing to act, warning that accountability measures will be strictly enforced.
Additionally, the Bureau of Immigration will track down 11,000 unaccounted foreign POGO workers, while police will pursue those involved in illegal activities.
Remulla reiterated the government’s commitment to a “forever” anti-POGO campaign to prevent future operations.
