A Chinese national, Jing Shan, has been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Makati City for overstaying in the Philippines.
Shan entered the country as a tourist in May 2023, but his visa expired in September, and he failed to extend it.
His arrest follows his involvement in a viral incident where he was filmed kicking a community cat named “Ken” at Ayala Triangle Gardens, leading to the cat’s death.
The incident sparked public outrage, and Shan was found to be without valid immigration documents at the time of his arrest.
He is currently being held at the BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City, and is facing deportation proceedings.
