Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesman James Jimenez has passed away, the poll body announced, honoring his long and dedicated service to the institution and the Filipino people.
Comelec described him as its longest-serving and youngest spokesperson at the time of his appointment, serving as the public face of the agency from 2006 to 2022.
The poll body said Jimenez was instrumental in explaining complex electoral processes, defending democratic institutions, and engaging the public and media with clarity, integrity, and transparency.
He also pioneered Comelec’s official social media channels, giving citizens a direct platform to raise concerns and seek information.
Comelec said Jimenez will be remembered for his professionalism, intellectual rigor, and lasting contributions to election transparency and voter education.
