China has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the Philippines in combating crimes, particularly those linked to offshore gambling operations.
This follows the recent arrest of over 450 individuals, including 137 Chinese nationals, in Manila for involvement in a Chinese-run gambling operation suspected of sports betting scams and investment fraud.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reiterated China’s commitment to cracking down on gambling and related crimes while urging Chinese nationals abroad to obey local laws.
Guo emphasized the need for both countries to work together to eradicate the issue and called for the Philippines to ensure fair law enforcement, protecting the rights of Chinese nationals.
The raid is part of ongoing efforts to address the criminal activities tied to offshore gaming operators, which have been a growing concern for both the Philippines and China.
