The Philippine National Police (PNP) boosted its Holy Week readiness with P506.9 million worth of new vehicles and equipment, including personnel carriers, motorcycles, night vision devices, and protective gear.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. led the ceremonial blessing and presentation of the assets at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The new equipment aims to enhance the police’s ability to deter focus crimes such as murder, robbery, and theft, especially in tourist areas during the Lenten break.
Over 148,000 personnel, including PNP officers, augmentation forces, and force multipliers, have been deployed to secure airports, seaports, transportation hubs, and other public areas.
Additional assets from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, including 700 motorcycles and body-worn cameras, are also expected to arrive soon.
